Introduction
Today there are thousands of denominations, movements, organizations, and church bodies. Nearly all of them appeal to the same Bible, and nearly all are convinced that they proclaim the truth. Yet they differ from one another on important points. This raises a fundamental question: how can there be so much division if there is only one truth?
When two teachings contradict one another, they cannot both be completely true. If one teaching says something is true and another says that same thing is false, then at least one of them must be mistaken. Truth is not dependent upon popularity, tradition, or majority opinion. Truth remains truth even when only a small number of people understand it. And error remains error even when millions embrace it. The majority is not always right.
The differences often go far beyond minor issues. They touch subjects such as the identity of God, the person of Yeshua, the meaning of the gospel, salvation, God’s Law, and the future of believers. This means that every sincere believer should ask himself: do I believe what Scripture actually teaches, or what I have always been taught?
This question is not new. Yeshua warned against human traditions that set aside the Word of God, and the apostles warned against error and deception. Therefore, it is important not to place blind trust in church traditions, teachers, or popular opinions, but to test everything against Scripture.
The purpose of this website is not to promote a new denomination or tell people what they must believe. The goal is to encourage personal Bible study. Ultimately, the question is not what a church teaches, but what Yeshua actually taught. Therefore, the invitation is simple: examine everything, test everything, and follow the truth wherever it leads.
The question naturally arises:
How can there be so much division if there is only one truth?
Yeshua did not say:
“I am a way.”
He said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Truth is ultimately not plural. Two contradictory doctrines cannot both be true at the same time. If one is correct, the other must be incorrect. Yet within Christianity we see an enormous variety of beliefs.
- Some say that the soul is immortal. Others say it is not.
- Some teach that the Law of God has been abolished.
- Others teach that it is still in effect.
- Some teach the Trinity.
- Others reject that doctrine.
- Some baptize infants.
- Others baptize only believers.
- Some believe that the miraculous gifts have ceased.
- Others believe they are still active.
Not all of these positions can be correct at the same time. That means error must exist somewhere.
The Problem of Religious Tradition
Over the centuries, many people have come to rely on religious systems. They believe what they believe because it was taught to them by a church, denomination, pastor, priest, or theologian. It is often assumed that a doctrine must be true because it has been taught for centuries or accepted by large numbers of believers. Yet that is not the standard given by the Bible. Yeshua regularly confronted religious leaders who had placed human traditions above the Word of God. Their problem was not a lack of religion, but that they had come to trust inherited interpretations without continuing to test them against God’s own revelation. They could not do so then; today we can.
People believe something because:
- a church teaches it;
- a pastor says it;
- a theologian writes it;
- a creed establishes it;
- a tradition passes it on.
But is that how Scripture teaches us to seek the truth? When Yeshua walked the earth, He constantly clashed with religious leaders who placed human traditions above the Word of God. His warning was sharp:
“In vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
That problem has not disappeared. It still exists today. Many people have never truly examined why they believe what they believe. They have simply inherited what others before them believed.
The Bereans as an Example
In Acts we read about the believers in Berea (Acts 17:10). They received the message with eagerness, but they did something remarkable. They examined the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Even when the apostle Paul spoke, they did not blindly accept his words. They verified everything. Scripture commends them for this. That is an important principle. God does not ask people to believe everything blindly.
He calls them to investigate.
Why Jesus.online Exists
Jesus.online does not exist to:
- establish a new denomination;
- build a new religious organization;
- make people dependent upon our interpretation.
On the contrary. Our goal is to bring people back to Scripture itself.
- We want to ask questions that are often not asked.
- We want to examine passages that are often overlooked.
- We want to test traditions against God’s Word.
- We want to encourage people to conduct their own study.
Not because we think we know everything.
But because we believe truth is important enough to be investigated.
It is a biblical command.
Is It Wrong to Point Out Error?
Some believe that identifying error creates division and should therefore be avoided. Yet Scripture presents a different picture. Yeshua warned about false prophets, false teachers, and false messiahs. The apostles also called believers to test everything and hold firmly to what is good. If truth matters, then deviations from it must also be addressed.
Therefore, pointing out error is not wrong when it is done out of love for the truth and concern for people. The goal should never be to condemn others or elevate ourselves above them, but to encourage people to examine Scripture for themselves and draw closer to God’s truth. Without a distinction between truth and error, the very concept of truth loses its meaning.
Some say:
“As long as someone is sincere, doctrine does not matter very much.”
But Scripture says otherwise. Yeshua warned about false prophets, false teachers, and false messiahs.
The apostles warned about:
- another gospel;
- another Jesus;
- deceiving spirits;
- human traditions.
If doctrine were unimportant, why would these warnings exist?
Truth matters.
Otherwise, Yeshua would not have needed to say:
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
Therefore, pointing out error is not unloving. It depends on how it is done. The goal should not be to humiliate people. The goal should be to bring people closer to the one true truth.
Why Many People Are Confused
Many sincere believers find themselves in a difficult situation today.
There are thousands of voices.
- Thousands of books.
- Thousands of videos.
- Thousands of teachers.
Everyone claims to possess the truth. As a result, the original gospel has become blurred for many people. When someone has been taught a particular doctrine from childhood, it is understandable that they do not easily abandon it.
- God knows that.
- God sees that.
- God knows the circumstances of every individual.
But that does not make truth unimportant. That is precisely why the call remains:
- Examine.
- Test.
- Seek.
- Ask.
The Seven Congregations of Revelation
The letters to the seven congregations reveal something important. Of the seven congregations, only two received no rebuke. The other five were corrected. This means that even congregations that confessed Yeshua could have serious errors. Yet Yeshua did not immediately reject them. He called them to repentance.
Again and again the same call is heard:
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the congregations.”
The goal was restoration, not destruction. That principle still applies today. When error is exposed, the goal is not condemnation.
The goal is a return to truth.
Why We Do Not Want to Force Anyone
Truth does not require coercion. If something is truly true, it can withstand investigation. Therefore, we do not ask anyone to believe us blindly.
Instead, we ask the exact opposite:
- Check our conclusions.
- Read the texts.
- Study the context.
- Examine the original languages.
- Compare Scripture with Scripture.
- Test everything.
If our conclusions are wrong, reject them.
If they are correct, follow the truth wherever it leads.
A Danger for Every Researcher
We are human as well. We too:
- can make mistakes.
- The same is true for every pastor.
- Every church.
- Every theologian.
- Every website.
Therefore, no human authority may stand above Scripture.
- Truth is not determined by majority vote (Council of Nicaea).
- Not by centuries of tradition (Roman Catholic Church).
- Not by ecclesiastical power (the many denominational differences).
- Not by popularity (large church membership).
But by what God has actually revealed.
The Challenge of This Generation
Unlike people before the internet age, we live in a time when more biblical information is available than ever before.
- Original texts are accessible.
- Historical sources are available.
- Translations are widely available.
- Research materials are within reach.
Yet many still rely exclusively on what others say.
That is why we believe every believer must learn to investigate again. Not out of distrust.
But out of love for the truth.
The Serious Consequences of Error
Scripture does not treat error as an insignificant difference of opinion. Yeshua and the apostles repeatedly warn that following false teaching can have serious spiritual consequences. Error can gradually lead people away from the truth, weaken their relationship with God, and ultimately result in judgment if they refuse to repent. Therefore, the Bible continually calls believers to remain vigilant, test everything, and hold firmly to what is true.
The letters to the seven congregations demonstrate this clearly. Of the seven congregations, only two received no rebuke. The other five were corrected because they had departed from what Yeshua desired of them. Some had tolerated false teaching, others had become spiritually lukewarm, while still others had a reputation for spiritual life while actually being dead. The warnings spoken by Yeshua are serious and show that truth and obedience matter.
Yet it is remarkable that Yeshua did not immediately reject these congregations. Again and again, He called them to repentance, restoration, and a return to the truth. This demonstrates that God’s purpose is not condemnation but salvation. The warnings exist precisely because repentance is still possible. At the same time, they make clear that ignoring those warnings does not come without consequences. Therefore, examining doctrines is not merely an academic exercise, but a matter directly connected to following Yeshua and persevering on the path that leads to life.
Our Invitation
Jesus.online does not ask:
“Do you believe us?”
Our question is different.
- Have you personally examined what Yeshua actually taught?
- Have you personally examined what the apostles actually wrote?
- Have you personally examined whether your beliefs agree with Scripture?
- Or do you mainly trust what others have told you?
We believe every believer should honestly ask these questions.
Conclusion
The truth of God is too important to accept blindly from others. Therefore, we do not want to make people dependent upon a new human authority.
We want to bring them back to the source:
- To the words of Yeshua.
- To the prophets.
- To the apostles.
- To Scripture.
- Examine everything.
- Test everything.
- Hold fast to what is good.
And follow the truth wherever it leads.
For ultimately, a denomination is not the way,
a tradition is not the way,
and a human organization is not the way.
But Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, is the ONLY way to the Father.
Everything else is error.
And whoever truly desires to follow Him must be willing to examine everything in the light of His Word, who Himself is the Word of Father God. (joh 5:39)
