A simple introduction for anyone who doesn’t
yet know the Gospel.
Perhaps you’ve never seriously thought about the Gospel. Perhaps you know the name Jesus — Lord Yeshua — only from the Bible, from a church, from television, or from conversations with others. Perhaps you don’t believe in God at all. Or perhaps you do believe God exists, but you don’t really know what the Gospel of Lord Yeshua is about.
So this article starts at the very beginning.
Not with human traditions, church systems, or complicated theological debates, but with the message that Lord Yeshua the Messiah Himself proclaimed.
The Gospel is not a set of rules for becoming a good person. It is a call from God to every human being:
Return to God. Believe the Gospel. Leave your sins behind. Follow Lord Yeshua.
And receive the life that God gives.
What is the Gospel?
The Gospel is God’s good news about His Kingdom and about Yeshua the Messiah, whom God sent to bring people back to Himself.
The Gospel proclaims that through sin humanity has strayed from God and is therefore heading toward death. But in His grace, God has opened a way to forgiveness and reconciliation through Lord Yeshua. Lord Yeshua proclaimed the Kingdom of God, gave His life for us, was raised from the dead, and lives.
That is why the Gospel is not only a message to believe, but also a call to repentance.
God calls every human being to turn away from sin, return to Him, believe the Gospel, and follow Yeshua the Messiah.
In short:
The Gospel is the good news that Father God, through Yeshua the Messiah, has opened a way to forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life, and that He calls people to repent, believe the Gospel, and follow Lord Yeshua.
1. Who is God?
The first question of the Gospel is not: What must I do? The first question is:
Who is God?
Lord Yeshua taught that there is one true God: the Father. When someone asked Him what the greatest commandment was, Lord Yeshua pointed to the commandment Israel already knew:
Mark 12:29
And Jesus answered him: The first of all the commandments is: Hear,
O Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
The Creator of heaven and earth is not a human invention. He is the Source of life. We exist because He gave us life. That is why our life ultimately does not belong to us. God made us to know Him, to love Him, and to live with Him in righteousness.
But something went wrong.
2. What is wrong with humanity?
Look honestly at the world. There is love, beauty, faithfulness, and goodness. But there is also lying, hatred, greed, violence, adultery, injustice, pride, and deceit. And if we’re honest, we don’t need to look only at other people. We have to look at ourselves. Everyone has done things they know were wrong. Everyone has said things that would have been better left unsaid. Everyone has had wrong thoughts. Everyone has wronged others. The Bible calls this sin.
Sin is not merely breaking a list of rules. Sin means that humanity has turned away from God and no longer lives as the Creator intended. That is why humanity’s problem is ultimately not only social, psychological, or political.
The deepest problem is our relationship with God.
The absence of a relationship with Father God.
3. Sin has consequences
God is love, but God is also just. A righteous judge cannot simply approve of evil. When someone deliberately does evil, that has consequences. So the Bible warns that sin ultimately leads to death.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This means that humanity cannot solve its problem with God on its own. Good works cannot undo the past. Suppose someone lies for years and then is completely honest for one day. That one honest day does not undo the earlier lies. In the same way, we cannot simply make up for our sins by becoming better people from today onward.
-
- We need forgiveness.
- We need reconciliation with God.
- We need a Savior.
4. That is why Lord Yeshua came
This is where the heart of the Gospel begins.
God did not leave humanity in its lost state. He sent Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Lord Yeshua did not come merely to start a new religion. He came to proclaim the Kingdom of God, to call people to repentance, and to open the way to God. His first message was remarkably clear:
Mark 1:15
and He said: The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is
at hand; repent and believe the Gospel.
Notice the order.
The Kingdom of God is near.
Therefore:
Repent.
And:
Believe the Gospel.
This is the core of Lord Yeshua’s call.
5. What does repentance mean?
Repentance means more than feeling sorry. You can regret something and then do it again. Biblical repentance means that you change direction. You turn away from sin and return to God.
You don’t only say:
“I did something wrong.”
You say:
“I have sinned against God. I no longer want to live this way. I want to return to God.”
So repentance begins with honesty. No justifying yourself.
Don’t say:
“Everyone does it.”
Don’t say:
“That’s just who I am.”
Don’t say:
“God will understand.”
Instead, come before God just as you are. God loves the sinner but hates the sin, which is why He sent His beloved Son Yeshua to set us free from sin.
“Father, I have sinned. Forgive me. Teach me to walk in Your way.”
That is the beginning of returning.
6. The Gospel is not: become a good person first
A common mistake is:
“If I improve my life first, I can come to God afterward.”
That is exactly the wrong order. You do not come to God because you have cleansed yourself. You come to God because you need to be cleansed. Lord Yeshua came precisely for people who knew they needed God.
He said:
Luke 5:32
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.
That does not mean sin is unimportant. It means you don’t have to become perfect before you may come to Lord Yeshua.
Come as you are now — but don’t expect to stay as you are.
Grace forgives the sinner, but grace also calls the sinner to begin a new life.
7. Who is Lord Yeshua?
Lord Yeshua is the Messiah whom God sent. The word Messiah means the Anointed One. He is God’s Anointed King and Lord. Lord Yeshua constantly spoke about His Father and about the Kingdom of God. He taught people to know God, to love God, and to do God’s will.
He said:
John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and
Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.
Here we see something fundamental. Eternal life is not only about endless existence. It begins with knowing God and knowing the One He sent. So the Gospel brings us back to a relationship with God our Father.
8. Why did Lord Yeshua have to die?
If Lord Yeshua had only been a teacher, His death would have been the end of His message. But His death was part of God’s plan. Lord Yeshua gave His life for us.
-
- He was rejected, beaten, and crucified.
- He was without sin, yet He died.
Why?
Because through Him God brought redemption and forgiveness. The death of Lord Yeshua shows two things at once:
How serious our sin is.
And:
How great God’s love and grace are.
God does not ignore evil. But He Himself opened a way by which people can receive forgiveness. That is why the blood shed on the cross is not merely a symbol. It is the center of the Messiah’s redeeming work. His Blood was given in our place. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin (Hebrews 9:22). Evil and sin are not simply brushed aside — they have a price: death (Romans 6:23). By dying in our place, Lord Yeshua redeemed us from sin. That is how much Father God loves humanity: He gave His Beloved Son, so that everyone who believes in Lord Yeshua would not perish, but have eternal life. That is grace. An undeserved gift.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
9. But Lord Yeshua did not remain in the grave
The Gospel does not end with death. Lord Yeshua was raised from the dead. This is essential. If Lord Yeshua had remained in the grave, the Gospel would not be a message of victory. But God raised Him. That is why the apostles proclaimed everywhere that God had raised Lord Yeshua from the dead. The resurrection means that death does not have the final word.
Lord Yeshua lives.
And because He lives, His call to repentance is still relevant today.
As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).
10. What does Lord Yeshua ask of you?
Perhaps you’re now thinking:
“But what should I do, then?”
Lord Yeshua did not make the answer complicated. He called people to:
Believing the Gospel does not simply mean accepting in your head that Lord Yeshua existed. Even believing that God exists is not the same as following Him. Biblical faith means trusting in God and in the One He sent. That is why Lord Yeshua said:
Luke 9:23
He said to them all: If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
That is a radical invitation. Lord Yeshua does not ask:
“Would you like to add a little religion and piety to your life?”
He asks:
“Will you follow Me?”
11. You cannot follow Lord Yeshua while remaining your own lord
This is perhaps the hardest part of the Gospel.
We want forgiveness.
But we often want to stay in control of our own decisions.
We want God’s blessing.
But not necessarily obedience to God.
We want eternal life.
But not always to submit our present life to God.
Yet Lord Yeshua calls us to something else. He says:
John 14:15
If you love Me, keep My commandments.
True love for Lord Yeshua shows itself in obedience. Not because we earn God’s love through our obedience.
But because someone who truly returns to God
no longer wants to keep living deliberately against Him.
12. The Gospel is a call to choose
There comes a moment when every person must respond.
-
- You can examine the Gospel.
- You can discuss it.
- You can read the Bible.
- You can ask all sorts of theological questions.
But eventually the question becomes personal:
-
- What will you do with Lord Yeshua?
- Will you keep going your own way?
- Or will you return to God?
Lord Yeshua spoke about this very clearly.
Matthew 7:13–14
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it; because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
So the Gospel is not a take-it-or-leave-it message. It is an invitation.
But it is also a warning.
13. God is calling you today
Perhaps you have lived far from God for years.
Perhaps you have done things you deeply regret.
Perhaps you have deliberately rejected God.
Perhaps you have told yourself it’s too late.
But as long as you are alive, the call to repentance is not meaningless.
God calls people back.
The Gospel does not say:
“Make yourself worthy first, and then come.”
It says:
“Return to God.”
-
- Confess your sins.
- Ask for forgiveness.
- Believe the Gospel.
- Trust in Lord Yeshua.
- Leave your old life behind.
- Learn to know God’s will.
- And begin to follow Him.
14. Repentance is the beginning of a new life
Repentance is not a one-time emotional experience. It is the beginning of a new direction in your life.
-
- You will still stumble.
- You will still make mistakes.
But something new begins:
-
- You want to know God.
- You want to understand His Word.
- You no longer want to defend sin.
- You want to learn to obey.
- You want to learn to love.
- You want to learn to forgive.
- You want to learn to live as Lord Yeshua taught.
So the Christian life is not:
“I am now perfect.”
It is:
“I am on the way with my Lord, and I want to follow Him faithfully.”
15. Where do you begin?
If you really want to know more, don’t begin with hundreds of books or complicated theological systems. Begin with the words of Lord Yeshua. Read, for example, the Gospel according to Mark.
Read slowly. With each chapter, ask:
-
- What does Lord Yeshua teach here?
- What does this teach me about God?
- What does this teach me about myself?
- What sin must I acknowledge?
- What does Lord Yeshua ask of me?
- Am I willing to obey Him?
Pray simply to Father God. You don’t need to know the perfect words. You could say, for example:
“Father,
I come to You in the name of Yeshua, I want to know You.
I acknowledge that I have sinned. Forgive me my sins.
Help me to truly turn away from evil.
I believe in Lord Yeshua, the One You sent.
Teach me to understand His words and to follow Him faithfully.
Let me learn to know and do Your will.
Amen.”
A prayer is not a magic formula. God looks at the heart.
What matters most is that your words are true.
This website is here to help you get started — take your time to read and study everything. Before long, you will notice that you are becoming a new person IN Lord Yeshua.
16. The core of the Gospel at a glance
If you want to sum up everything above, the Gospel looks like this:
1. God created you.
Your life comes from Him.
2. Humanity has sinned.
We have strayed from God.
3. Sin brings death.
We cannot save ourselves; sin brings us under judgment.
4. God sent Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
He came to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to bring people back to God.
5. Lord Yeshua died for us.
His death makes forgiveness and reconciliation possible; He took our sins upon Himself.
6. God raised Lord Yeshua from the dead.
The Messiah lives. As He lives after His death, you too will live after your death.
7. God calls you to repentance.
Turn away from sin and return to God — He loves you.
8. Believe the Gospel.
Trust in God and in Lord Yeshua, the One He sent.
9. Follow Lord Yeshua.
Don’t make Him merely a part of your life. Learn to follow Him as Lord.
10. Live in obedience to God.
Let your life be changed by the truth you learn.
17. The most important question
In the end, the Gospel is not only about knowledge. You can know everything about Lord Yeshua and still not follow Him. So the most important question is not:
“How much do I know about the Gospel?”
But:
“Have I truly turned to God?”
That is where the Gospel becomes personal.
18. An invitation
If you have read this far, something in your heart may have changed. Perhaps you have questions. Perhaps you feel sorrow over things from your past. Perhaps for the first time you understand why Lord Yeshua came. Or perhaps you still aren’t sure what to believe. You don’t have to answer every question today.
But don’t put off the most important question:
What will I do with Lord Yeshua’s call: “Repent and believe the Gospel”?
God does not ask you to understand everything first. He calls you to return to Him.
-
- Turn away from sin.
- Return to God.
- Believe the Gospel.
- Trust in Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
- Come to know His words.
- Follow Him.
For in the end, the Gospel is a message of life:
The person who has strayed from God is called to return to their Creator.
And the door stands open.
Acts 17:30
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
Begin today
If you know nothing about the Gospel, start simply. Open the Gospel according to Mark.
-
- Read chapter 1.
- Read the words of Lord Yeshua slowly.
- Pray to Father God.
- Ask Him to open your heart to the truth.
And when you discover what Lord Yeshua truly taught, take the next step:
- Not only hearing.
- Not only knowing.
- But believing, repenting, and following Him.
Summary
