The problem of sin
Mankind has a sin problem. According to Scripture this problem began in the beginning with Eve. In short, Adam brought sin into the world because he listened to his wife and ate of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:17). This act of disobedience brought aging and eventually death, although the spirit in us remains the same and does not change. Death is the logical consequence of disobedience, it is not a punishment.
Because the earth is now cursed (Genesis 3:17), everything we eat and everything we do on it is affected by that curse. As a result, we suffer from illness, physical defects, and the decay of everything around us. This leads to the following question:
Did the sin problem really begin in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve?
Consider this: before Eve ate of the tree, there was already a lie, a lie that did not originate from mankind. That lie, and thereby sin, began in heaven among the fallen angels who were led by Satan. It was Satan who first brought sin to earth, not man.
Sin began in heaven

12 How you are fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! 13 You said in your heart: “I will ascend into heaven”; I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit. The first sin began with Satan, who rebelled against God — before mankind even existed.
It is important to understand that Satan has not yet been condemned. No one can remain in God’s presence after a final judgment has been pronounced. Consider Job 1:6, where Satan appeared before God to accuse Job. Likewise, Revelation 12:10 says that he accuses mankind day and night before God.
The judgment of Satan still lies in the future. It will take place on the Day of Judgment (see Revelation 9:1 and Revelation 12:9). We see in Revelation 12:13 that Satan has been cast down to the earth where he deceives the whole world. Not condemned, but limited in power.
The creation
In Revelation 12:4 and Revelation 9 we read that a third of the angels followed Satan. God could have punished Satan immediately, but He did not. Why?
God is love (1 John 4:8). Scripture does not reveal a heavenly legal system that explains how angels are judged. If God had immediately condemned Satan and his followers, the remaining angels — those who remained faithful — might have served Him out of fear: fear of condemnation and fear of His wrath. But fear is not what God desires.
God does not seek a creation that obeys Him out of fear. He desires a close relationship and wants to be loved for Who He is, a Father: LOVE (1 John 4:8).
Death
Disobedience to God — in other words, sin — leads to death. This is not a punishment, but a logical consequence of disobedience.
If someone puts their hand in the fire and suffers severe burns, that is not a punishment — it is simply the natural consequence of touching fire. In the same way, disobedience to God by not doing what is good is sin, and sin ultimately leads to death. Satan does not kill us, sin does. But Satan is the one who ensures that sin enters our lives.

God the Father created man and gave him one law to live by:
Genesis 2:17 (NKJV)
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
Through the actions of Satan, Adam and Eve were disobedient to the only commandment they had received. As a result of this disobedience, they inherited the corruption of the flesh, which ultimately leads to death. It is important to note that the spirit, which was breathed into Adam by God, was not condemned.
In the second verse of Genesis we read that the earth was without form and void, and that darkness was upon the face of the deep. This darkness in creation was the result of Satan’s disobedience.
Satan was already present on earth before man was created, as evidenced by the fact that the earth was described as “without form and void” (Genesis 1:2) — a state of devastation and disorder.

Genesis 1:2 (AMPC)
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness lay over the surface of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the surface of the waters.
When God creates something, it is never “void.” It is always good. The Bible teaches us that God created everything in six days, and at the end of each day He declared it good. As we read in Genesis 1, each act of creation was followed by the words: “And God saw that it was good.” This shows us that disorder and devastation are not part of God’s original design; they came as a result of rebellion.

31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
The earth itself was already “void” at the time of Eden. It is called “void” because of Satan’s rebellion against God. Therefore God, in that wasteland, created a special, separate garden to protect mankind from wasteland and darkness (Genesis 2:8) surrounding the garden.

9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The serpent
The tree of the knowledge of “good and evil” represents the wisdom of heavenly beings (Genesis 3:22), and its fruit symbolized the choice and knowledge to do good or evil (for example, speaking the truth or lying). At the time of creation, the fallen angels were the only beings that had chosen to commit evil in creation. When Adam and Eve gained knowledge of “good and evil,” they in effect cooperated with the fallen angels, which led to their disobedience to God. The tree of life is a literal tree with leaves, since it appears again on the coming new earth (Revelation 22:2). The leaves of the tree of life serve for the healing of the nations (the gentiles) of every impurity. Notably, no mention is made of the tree of the knowledge of “good and evil” in the coming Kingdom of God.
Satan’s influence on earth
The fallen angels had sexual relations with humans and fathered children with them. To further explore this topic, you can read the following passages:

2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
Genesis 6:4 (NKJV)
4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
If fallen angels could have children with humans, then it is certainly possible that this also happened in the Garden of Eden. You can read more about the actions of angels in the apocryphal book The Book of Enoch, section 5, chapter 6.
Let us take a closer look at the story of the serpent.
The apple was not an apple
1 John 3:12
12 Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him?
Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous. (CWSB)
Let us take a closer look at 1 John 3:12. Most Bible translations state that Cain “was of the wicked one.” According to the Amplified Bible, this expression can also mean that Cain “received his nature and got his motivation from” the wicked one.

12 [And] be not like Cain, who [was of and] took his nature and got the motivation [of his conduct] from the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he murder him?
Because his deeds (activities, works) were wicked and malicious and his brother’s were righteous (virtuous).
Read what the original manuscripts say about 1 John 3:12:
In almost all Bible translations the expression “of the wicked one” is missing. When translated in this way, this passage can be understood differently. From this perspective, Cain could be described as someone who came “of the wicked one,” meaning that he was literally an offspring of Satan. This interpretation suggests that Satan may have been the father of Cain and had intercourse with Eve through the serpent (not a literal serpent). If this seems impossible, consider Genesis 6:1–4, where the “sons of God” had sexual relations with human women. If such events took place there, some argue that a similar event may also have taken place in the Garden of Eden with Eve. A twin from two different fathers is called in the medical world heteropaternal superfecundation. (google this) This happens extremely rarely when a woman releases two eggs during one ovulation (hyperovulation) and has intercourse with two different men within a few days, so that both eggs are fertilized by a different man.
Genesis 3:6 says that at the moment Eve “ate” of the fruit, she also gave it to Adam to eat who was with her.
This could explain why Adam and Eve immediately covered their genitals after eating the forbidden fruit. Their first action was to hide the source of their disobedience, their nakedness. The intercourse would have taken place before the fall, because afterward their eyes were opened and they understood that the “evil” represented by the tree involved disobedience.
The offspring of Satan
In John 8:44 our Lord Yeshua says about Satan:
John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning,
and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Genesis 6:1–6 (AMPC)
1 AND WHEN men had begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, My Spirit will not forever dwell and strive with man, for he is indeed flesh; but his days shall yet be 120 years. 4 There were giants on the earth in those days — and also afterward — when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men of old, men of renown. 5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent and imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.
Cain was the first offspring of Satan. This is presented as a reason why Scripture pays relatively little attention to the descendants of Cain, while emphasis is placed on Adam’s second son, Seth. The bloodline of Cain is considered to have ended after the flood in the days of Noah.
However, the enmity that God established between the offspring of Satan and the offspring of Eve is held to continue throughout history.
Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.
The “sons of God” in Genesis 6:1-4 (fallen angels) took human women for themselves and they brought forth offspring who became giants. These giants were described as stronger than ordinary humans and exercised authority over the earth.
The argument put forward is that the earth was intended for the descendants of Adam and not for the offspring of fallen angels. Therefore God shortened their lifespan and destroyed them by means of the flood in the days of Noah.

Discussion point: In Genesis 4:17, Cain’s wife appears without prior introduction. Where did these women come from? Could there have been incest involved?
Origin of the serpent
The account of Adam and Eve must be understood differently. The story of the apple is seen as a description of Satan having intercourse with Eve. In this view, the serpent was not a literal serpent and the apple was not a literal apple.
If Satan had intercourse with Eve in a manner similar to that described with the sons of God, then the serpent would have been a being through whom Satan communicated with Eve and deceived her. There was not merely one male “serpent-man” in Eden. If this cunning and crafty serpent could speak and move, then there must have been something unique about this being.
Just as people and animals today can be influenced or possessed by spiritual powers, these serpent-people are seen in this interpretation as beings that were susceptible to demonic possession. Satan “possessed” such a being in the Garden and used it to deceive the woman.
These human-like beings, described as being without spirit but with the ability to walk and speak, would then have been used by Satan to produce his own offspring — the serpent-people, who are sometimes identified with Neanderthals.

In Genesis 4:14 Cain expressed his fear that others would kill him. This raises the question: who was he afraid of?
Apart from Adam and Eve, Cain appears to be among the earliest people mentioned in Scripture. This explains the presence of “serpent” people (possibly identified with Neanderthals) as the reason why Cain was afraid of encountering others. This view further holds that Cain took wives from this group and that other sons of Adam did the same. Proponents of this interpretation argue that incest is unlikely, because it was later explicitly forbidden under the Law. They further argue that moral laws already existed before the written Law and would likewise have condemned such practices.
Romans 2:14 (NKJV)
14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,
The seed of Satan
Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
The Hebrew word translated as “seed” is the same for both Eve and the serpent and therefore has the same basic meaning. It refers to offspring, descendants, or children. This passage teaches that there will not only be enmity between the woman and Satan, but also between her offspring and his offspring. From this perspective, Scripture is understood as teaching about the existence of Satan’s offspring and an ongoing struggle between those descendants and the descendants of the woman.
The punishment of the serpent and Eve
Genesis 3:4
4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.” (AMP)
There is no clear revelation as to whether there exists in heaven a moral or written law by which angels are judged. What is certain, however, is that only Adam — not Eve — received the unwritten commandment not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
After the fall, Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat from the tree of life. This raises the question: why were they forbidden from the tree of life, while Satan was not?
Satan already possessed eternal life and was not yet subject to a heavenly law by which he could be condemned. However, after he had cooperated with Adam and Eve in their sin, he became liable for a future judgment.
Consider the following Scripture:
Matthew 19:5 (NKJV)
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
The serpent possessed no spirit, because God breathed His spirit only into Adam (Genesis 2:7). The serpent therefore consisted solely of flesh. It is then argued that, because Satan became the spirit that worked through the serpent, Satan and the serpent became one flesh.
Making Satan and the serpent punishable under the law
Spirits have not yet been condemned.
The serpent, Eve, and Adam were punished because they had transgressed God’s unwritten commandment. Satan himself, however, was not punished, despite being the instigator of mankind’s sin (disobedience). His sin, the lie, has not yet received its final judgment. The sin committed in the flesh was punished immediately. Scripture describes the judgment of those who physically participated in the transgression, but does not describe the immediate punishment of spiritual beings. Just as Satan is a spirit whose final judgment is still future, so too will the human spirit ultimately be judged at the end of time.
The serpent was cursed to crawl on its belly. The woman received pain in childbirth. The man received authority over her. Adam lost his carefree existence and was condemned to labor and toil. Adam and Eve were furthermore no longer allowed to eat from the tree of life. Otherwise they would have been able to remain forever in the flesh despite their sinful state.
Satan’s seed was already present in Eve’s womb at the time the judgment was pronounced. This is put forward as an explanation for why Eve’s punishment was directly related to pregnancy and childbirth. Because she had committed adultery with Satan, it is argued that her desire would henceforth be solely for her husband and that he would rule over her.
Consider the following passage:
Genesis 3:16 (NKJV)
16 To the woman He said:
“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”
Eve’s punishment included greater sorrow in pregnancy, pain in childbirth, desire for her husband, and submission to his authority. All these judgments were directly related to her body and reproductive function. This view further holds that Eve was punished because of unfaithfulness to Adam and because of adultery.
Adam, on the other hand, received punishments that lay outside his body: hard labor and a cursed ground. He received these judgments because he did not properly care for both the Garden and Eve (Genesis 2:15) and thereby neglected the responsibility God had entrusted to him.
Then their eyes were opened and they realized that they were naked. This interpretation raises an important question: why is so much emphasis placed on nakedness? Only Eve, the serpent, and Adam received immediate punishment. Satan himself was not punished.
Where does this lead us?
Since the judgment pronounced in the Garden of Eden, Satan has continually tried to destroy “the offspring of the woman.” According to Genesis 3:15, this promised Offspring would ultimately bruise Satan’s head. If this Offspring were never born, Satan’s defeat could never become reality. Therefore, according to this view, Satan has hated the woman and her offspring from the beginning.
He attacked the woman at her most vulnerable point: her flesh. Satan introduced corrupted forms of sexual union involving spiritual beings, fallen entities, and humans, in an attempt to corrupt human bloodlines.
Because Eve is called “the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20), it is argued that Satan wanted to contaminate her offspring in order to prevent a pure human lineage from producing the promised Offspring: the Messiah, Yeshua, who would ultimately bruise his head. This interpretation assumes that Satan understood that holiness and corruption cannot coexist and therefore tried to prevent the coming of the promised Redeemer.
What then would Satan have done to prevent the coming of the Offspring that would destroy him?
- He began with the murder of Abel, Eve’s first righteous descendant.
- Through illegitimate unions (symbolic or literal), and even through alleged corruption involving animals, he tried to bring impure blood into the descendants of the woman.
- He constantly tried to destroy God’s chosen people, the Hebrews, Israelites, and Jews from whose lineage the promised Offspring would ultimately come.
Satan has, from the beginning of history to the present day, tried to prevent God’s plan of salvation by attacking the woman, her descendants, and the covenant people through whom the Messiah would come.
Hebrews, Israelites and Jews
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The Hebrews, Israelites, and Jews were set apart for centuries and were commanded not to mix with heathen peoples. It was assumed that these peoples carried false or impure (demonic) bloodlines related to the offspring of Satan. The purpose of this separation was to preserve and purify the bloodline so that eventually a new and unblemished “Eve” could arise — a woman through whom the promised Offspring would be born. This is put forward as one of the reasons why Eve is called “the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20). Through this preserved lineage, God would ultimately bring forth the Messiah, Yeshua.
Mary,
the mother of our Lord Yeshua, was born without any contamination in her lineage.
Through her our Savior came into the world, the promised Offspring who came to
redeem mankind and crush the head of the serpent on the cross.
Historically, the Hebrews, Israelites, and Jews are among the most persecuted peoples on earth. From ancient times to the present day, Satan has continually tried to destroy the offspring of the woman, the lineage from which the Messiah would come, but he has never succeeded. Their survival despite constant opposition is seen as evidence of their unique role in God’s plan of salvation for mankind. God set Israel apart from the nations and gave them laws to preserve their identity and holiness. This separation was not based on superiority but had as its purpose: preparing a sanctified lineage from which the Messiah, the promised Offspring, would come to crush the head of the serpent.
Through generations of preservation and obedience, a woman was born, Mary,
whose body was prepared to receive the Holy Spirit and bring forth the physical body of the Redeemer.
Hebrews 10:5
5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me.
Her body was preserved through the generations so that it could receive the Holy Spirit of Almighty God Himself, through which the promised Offspring could be born — He whose coming Satan had tried to prevent from the beginning. This interpretation further argues that all non-Israelites, as well as Israelites of mixed blood, must be considered descendants of the serpent because they possess mixed ancestry.
For this reason it is held that Satan especially hates the Hebrews, Israelites, and Jews, even to this day.
BORN-AGAIN CHRISTIANS

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Why is this so important?
God said to Adam:
Genesis 2:17 (NKJV)
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat,
for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Adam was disobedient to God and ate of the tree. This act of disobedience brought sin into human life. Because of sin, people die.
Genesis 3:17–19 (NKJV)
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life.18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”
Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The promised Offspring, the Son of Almighty God, is Yeshua (“Jesus”). He is the visible manifestation of God the Father, the one and only Almighty God (John 3:17). Through Lord Yeshua, God created everything in heaven and on earth, both visible and invisible. He left heaven and became a man, the Offspring of Eve, to live as people live and to be tempted in all things as mankind is tempted. Thereby He could rightfully die in our place and free us from sin and condemnation through faith in God the Father (Galatians 3:22, according to certain manuscript readings). He died in our place. He is the promised Offspring who crushed Satan’s head on the cross, restored the relationship between God and mankind, and made possible again what once existed in the Garden of Eden. Through Him eternal life is restored.
John 3:16–18 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Because He had no sin, death had no rightful claim on Him. He was unjustly put to death on the cross. But because Father God is just, He raised the Offspring from the dead and thereby crushed the head of the serpent. Adam sinned, and therefore mankind dies. Yeshua lived a perfect human life. Through Him the cycle of sin and death is broken and eternal life is restored.
The fallen angels and their offspring have no Savior to redeem them.
They stand condemned, and likewise everyone who rejects the Son of God remains under condemnation.
John 3:17–21 (NKJV)
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Eternal life
The promise given by the Son of God is eternal life.
The central message of the Gospel is that eternal life is found exclusively in Yeshua the Messiah. Through faith in Him, believers are reconciled with Father God, freed from condemnation, and receive the hope of resurrection and eternal life. From this perspective, the conflict that began with sin, rebellion, and death ultimately finds its resolution in the victory of the promised Offspring, the Messiah, Who overcomes sin, defeats death, and restores the relationship between God and mankind.
