Biblical images, shadows, and who we are in Yeshua
Introduction
Anyone who reads the Bible keeps coming across the same images: a lamb, a rock, a shepherd, a temple, bread falling from heaven. They are familiar words, but their deepest meaning does not always lie on the surface. Much of what Scripture describes points beyond itself. It points to Yeshua the Messiah.
In the Old Testament we often see that reality still in shadows, types, and promises. In the New Testament it receives a face: in who Yeshua is, in what He has done, in His Kingdom, and in His presence among His people. So the Bible turns out to be one continuous story, centered on Him from beginning to end.
In this article we bring a number of those images and statements together in two clear tables. For each term you will find what Scripture means by it and how it becomes reality in Yeshua. Sometimes a very familiar word hides a richness that is easily overlooked.
Yeshua said it Himself: “These are the ones that testify about Me” (John 5:39). And after His resurrection, “beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written about Himself in all the Scriptures” (Luke 24:27).
The first table shows who Yeshua is. The second shows who we have become in Him, and how God’s Kingdom is already at work among His people, while we also look forward to its full revelation.
